Letters to my daughter #2

~ Confessions of a working mother

If you knew how many times I kissed you in your sleep,

For missing out on your play time.

If you knew how many times I rubbed my cheeks against yours,

To make up for the calls of mama.

If you knew nothing and nobody stands before you,

In the eyes of your mama!

Would you then know that of all the things mama has to do,

Leaving you is the hardest one to do?

I’m tired mommy

Can I lay down in your lap? Silence everything.

Will you stroke my hair and kiss my forehead?

I want to rest in your shade and hear you speak

Of hope and light and all things merry

I’m tired dear mommy, wrap your arms around me

Kiss me good night and stay here with me.
